Summer's Officially Over

10 Random Tidbits about Utah

1. Ketchup has fierce competition...Fry sauce!

2. I don't have a greasy face anymore. No more humidity and lots of DRY weather.

3. Prime time starts at 7. Okay I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand I can actually watch the Tonight Show at 10:30, go to bed early, but on the other hand, I have shows that I like to watch that start at 7. I guess the kids have a new bedtime. Yes, you don't have to lecture me about my priorities because I already know I'm a bad mom!

4. Aggressive, bad, unpredictable drivers!!! Wow I have already witnessed 5 accidents since I have been out here. Coincidence or not, I'm steering clear!

5.AWESOME Mexican food! Okay all my friends in Indiana know this is something that I have been waiting for for a long time. We have some great restaurants out here but my fav is definitely Cafe Rio. YUMMY!!!

6. Since we've moved here, we've had a lot of people warn us of the "culture shock" out here. I think they're trying to warn us about those crazy Mormons!

7. They have a Walmart that's just a supermarket. For all the times I've refused to shop at our "Ghetto Mart" in Indiana (maggots in artichokes, dirty floors, wilted lettuce, scary people), this Walmart Supermarket is borderline Upscale with the low prices. I also really like the Super Target which also has a grocery department.

8. One thing about getting to know my way around is that it's not that hard. You always know which way is east because of the ginormous mountains.

9. For as much as California's say Utah is weird, there are sure a lot of them here in Utah!

10. I can walk to church in 2 minutes. Everyone in my ward is within a 5 minute driving distance! Wow this is so nice!!!

Idaho Trip

Ian and the kids and I flew into Boise and stayed at Lee and Karen's. That night my dad and Stephen came over and we had a wonderful time visiting and eating yummy food!
The next day we went with my dad and toured Boise. It is a beautiful city and we went down to the local food market place.

On Sunday we drove to Idaho Falls to see Ian's family. It was so great to see everyone and see how much the kids had changed. Some fun things that we did were float the Ho-back on a raft, attempt to eat 1lb hamburgers, birthday parties, and lots of eating.

Potty Training Help (A continual post)

Okay so I can't check out books at the library until I get my new Utah license which won't happen for awhile. In the mean time, I REALLY need to potty train Summer. So I would like to read a book before I start the process and I need a suggestion on "THEE" book to buy. For some reason I really don't remember the details of Eva's potty training except that it was hell.

California Trip

Eva, Summer and I took a trip to LA. Our cousin Cameron was getting married in the San Diego Temple so we decided to go down. The wedding was beautiful and the girls had a great time at the reception. We also got a chance to check out Sea World.

While we were in LA we spent time at Grandma Dorothy's, Grandma and Grandpa Bartlings, and Aunt Marie's house. To summarize in a nutshell, Eva and Summer loved playing with Grandma Dorothy. Summer especially liked jumping on Grandma and giving her massive bruises. Eva thought grandma was a great reader! The Bartling's house was also lots of fun. Grandpa took them to the park and grandpa came back looking worn out. Godma and Jennifer were also there. Eva liked godma's jewelery and that just sparked an idea for Eva's b-day. It was nice to see J and hear that she was okay after her crash. I'm glad she's okay! The Adams' house was also very fun. The girls got to swim, play with Chloe, celebrate my b-day(see earlier post), and watch Animaniacs. HELLO NURSE!

I also enjoyed spending time with family. The second day I was down there Ian had received the job offer from ATK. We had to make the decision if he was going to take the job or not over the phone. I was talking with Barney, weighing my options about if we should move or not. I told him the great advantage of moving would be that we would be closer to family. He really helped my decision when he said, "Is there really anything to think about if you're going to be closer to family?" At that moment I thought, "NO there isn't!" Thanks for weighing in and help me make that decision.

Okay long post I know but it's about to get even longer with all the Cali pics. Here goes:

Eva and Summer saying good-bye

Before we left Indiana, Eva and Summer got to say good-bye to their friends.

Us girls all became friends when all of our oldest where just babies and here they are today. Thanks to Becca, we had a wonderful playgroup that met every week and we talked about, "Is this normal?", vented frustrations, and helped each other with the daunting task of raising babies. Our kids became great friends and Eva and Summer will miss everyone a lot!!!

I"M BACK

Wow it's been a long time! I have a month of blogging to catch up on. We finally got the Internet last night and it's really amazing how lost you are without it. I don't recommend it to anyone! Well we are semi-settled here in Layton, Utah. We are renting a house for eight months until we can figure out where we would like to live. We've met a lot of our neighbors and they all seem really nice. Ian especially seems to like "Barbie" who is often found sunbathing in her front yard with her little string bikini on. Eva has a little friend next door who is in Kindergarten. He dresses like 50 Cent but seems very nice. Okay I have so many things to say but I'm going to post what we've been up to the last month and get back to our adventures in Utah later.
